EURO 2024 is over, what’s next?
Aside from the transfer market, there are many football tournaments that have already started or are about to start.
The Junior Euros, Paris Games, UEFA Champions League and more, all covered here.

EURO 2024 has come to an end, the question is what lies ahead? Apart from the transfer market which is open, there are many football tournaments which have already started or are about to start such as the Junior Euro, Paris Olympic Games, UEFA Champions League and many more. Which have been roughly summarized here.
Euro U-19
The senior Euros have ended. But if you’re still feeling a bit hungover. You can continue on to the “junior Euros” for the U-19 teams. Which just started a few days ago.
Officially known as the UEFA European Under-19 Championship. This year’s tournament will be held in Northern Ireland, kicking off on July 15 and ending on July 28.
This is a short tournament, with only 8 teams qualifying for the finals.
Group A – Northern Ireland, Italy, Ukraine, Norway
Group B – France, Spain, Turkey, Denmark
The first games of each group have begun. Defending champions Italy , who had Francesco Camarda, a 16-year-old striker from AC Milan. In the team (but as a substitute), edged out Norway 2-1. While hosts Northern Ireland drew 0-0 with Ukraine. Spain (Iker Bravo, Dani Rodriguez) edged out Denmark 2-1, and France (Matis Tel, Eljaz Zidane Luzizou) defeated Turkey 2-1 as well.
In addition to the trophy and prize money, this tournament is also a trophy for selecting 5 teams to play in the U-20 World Championship in Chile next year.
Olympic Games ‘Paris 2024’
Another big event in the middle of this year that is creating a buzz in the media is the beautiful official outfits of Thai athletes for the opening ceremony of “Paris 2024”.
I’ll skip over this and not comment (lol), but it’s a confirmation that this year’s Summer Olympics are getting closer.
That’s because the Paris 2024 opening ceremony will take place on Friday, July 26, before 32 sports are contested until the closing day on August 11.
In the “Men’s Football” section, the highlight of the program will start kicking off 2 days before the opening ceremony, which is Wednesday, July 24, as well as closing 2 days before (the championship is on August 9).
And here are some of the key things about the Paris Games men’s football.
• Basic tournament system: 4 groups of 4 teams, with the winner and runner-up advancing to the knockout round of 8 teams.
A – France, USA, Guinea, New Zealand
B – Argentina, Morocco, Iraq, Ukraine
C – Uzbekistan, Spain, Egypt, Dominican Republic
D – Japan, Paraguay, Mali, Israel
The rule requires that the teams be U-23 (born after January 1, 2001) as usual, with the addition of 3 over-aged players per team.
Many players from European teams are prevented from playing when it overlaps with the pre-season and the start of the new season.
• However, There are still many outstanding stars, such as France , which has Michael Olise, Alexandre Lacazette, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Loic Balde or Rayan Cherki
. Guinea, led by Naby Keita, Morocco has Achraf Hakimi, Dominican Republic has Junior Firpo
. Julian Alvarez, Man City striker, leads Argentina with Nicolas Otamendi, Jeronimo Ruilli, Thiago Almada.
Spain, although using over 3 quotas, is true, but only 23-24 years old, such as Sergio Gomez, Abel Ruiz, Juan Miranda. The star players of the team are Eric Garcia (23), Alex Baena (23), Samu Omorodion (20), Fermin Lopez (21) or Arnao Tenas (23). Japan, very brutal,
is “There is not a single overage player.” All are under 23. Even so, there are still 6 players playing in European leagues, led by Ken Sato, a striker from Werder Bremen.
Thailand… was eliminated from the qualifying round, but has 1 representative, AFC VAR referee Siwakorn Pu-udom
, who will be stationed in the control room only . Defending champion Brazil did not come because they were also eliminated from the qualifying round. It is a real dark age for Samba football
. Wednesday 24 July is the opening day, with all groups playing 8 matches, with the opening games being Uzbekistan – Spain and Argentina – Morocco at 10:00 PM sharp in our time. Then there are three more matches at 10:00 PM, midnight and 2:00 AM.
UEFA Champions League (and two other trophies)
The ones that have already started without waiting are the European club trophies, the biggest being the UEFA Champions League, the second being the UEFA Europa League, and the third being the UEFA Conference League (renamed from the UEFA Europa Conference League).
The UCL final, where Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0, may not have faded from memory yet, but the start of the 2024/25 season’s “qualifying round” has already begun. The first qualifying round, which ended with the qualifying teams, was just this past Wednesday.
But of course, the teams that have to start from the first round of selection are the smaller teams from the marginal leagues, whose winners have already entered the second round of selection, such as Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia), Shamrock Rovers (Ireland), Steaua Bucharest (Romania) or Dinamo Minsk (Bulgaria).
The Europa League & Conference League will decide the second round of the first qualifying round tonight (Thursday 18 July).
Interestingly, the Europa League has a famous team, Ajax Amsterdam, waiting in the second qualifying round, which will meet Vojvodina from Serbia, with matches to be played on 25 July and 1 August.
The reason why we have to start so early (and in this small cup) is of course because last season, Ajax struggled and only managed to finish 5th in the Eredivisie. After being so bad at the beginning of the season that they dropped into the relegation zone.
Back to the big cup, UCL, to be honest, this year’s qualifying round and play-off round are not that interesting. UEFA has changed the competition system and all the representatives of the top leagues are already waiting in the “League phase” round , which has replaced the โปรโมชั่น ufabet group stage (the details of how to play will probably be discussed later).
And the League phase will start in mid-September. The draw for the schedule will be at the end of August.
Pre-Season
It’s a busy start for Manchester United, who lost 1-0 to Rosenborg in their first pre-season game on Monday, July 15, and will play Glasgow Rangers in Scotland this Saturday before heading out on a three-match tour of the United States. Including a ‘Red Devils’ match against Liverpool.
The Red Devils’ new era of rethinking under Enios has been a week ahead of other teams, such as:
Manchester City – First pre-season game 23 July vs Glasgow Celtic in USA
Liverpool – First pre-season match 26 July, meet Real Betis in the United States.
Arsenal – First pre-season match 24 July, meet Bournemouth in the United States.
Chelsea – First pre-season match 24 July, meet Wrexham in the United States.
There are also some that start a bit earlier, such as Spurs , who kicked off the first match and beat Hearts of Scotland 5-1, or Aston Villa , who beat Walsall 3-0 on July 17.
That means that many Premier League fans will have to wait a little longer for their favorite teams to return to the pitch, even though players who are not on the national team may have already been called back to the camp.
Or the European giants will start their first pre-season games on the following dates:
Real Madrid: 31 July vs AC Milan
Barcelona: 30 July vs Manchester City
Bayer Leverkusen: 26 July vs Rot-Weiss Essen Bayern
Munich: 24 July vs Rottach-Egern Inter
Milan: Started 17 July, won Lugano 3-2 Mehdi Taremi, new Iranian striker, scores two
Juventus: 26 July vs Nuremberg AC
Milan: 20 July vs Rapid Vienna
Paris Saint-Germain: Not revealed (until now!) expected to tour China
Minor leagues around the world
In addition to all the programs and pre-seasons mentioned. The football that is ongoing and coming is the minor leagues around the world, very small, depending on what you find.
One of them is MLS, Major League Soccer, which continues to play without any pause for Copa America or Euro.
The latest developments for Inter Miami, the home team of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are that they recently beat Toronto FC 3-1 at home to remain top of the Eastern Conference after 24 matches. With this form. They are quite certain to advance to the MLS Cup finals.
In the J-League side of Japan, entering the middle of the 2024 season. Which has now passed 23 matches, the newcomer with an unfamiliar name. Machida Zelvia, leads the pack by 5 points over Gamba Osaka.
Or this weekend, the Russian Premier League will kick off its new season and next week. The Belgian Pro League will start counting down.
In short, even though Euro 2024 has ended. The world of football is still moving forward without stopping. Even though this time it may be a matter of “small ball”. In a moment, the familiar thing of the big league 2024/25 will return to serve hot main courses as usual. Not too long to wait.
