Kane complains that many Three Lions players have no interest in withdrawing from the national team.
England captain Harry Kane has hit out at the nine players who have now withdrawn from the England squad, with Lee Carsley set to take charge of his final two games as caretaker manager before Thomas Tuchel takes over as manager.
Kane said he thought the national team should come before anything else. England came before clubs because as a professional footballer playing for his country was the most important thing. Former England manager Gareth Southgate took that very seriously and he didn’t hesitate to cut players who were starting to lose heart.
Kane added: “It’s a shame that some players don’t seem to be very enthusiastic about international duty this week. I think it’s because it’s a tough time in the ยูฟ่าเบท league season and they’re taking a break. To be honest, I don’t like it because I think the national team comes first. Before anything else, before the whole club thing.”
The players who withdrew from the England squad for this week’s UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and Ireland are Trent Alexander-Arnold, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Aaron Ramsdale and Levi Colwill, while Jarrad Branthwaite, who was called up to replace him, later withdrew.
